IM finally an Encore owner
« on: February 20, 2004, 12:32:52 PM »
After months and months of waiting and preparing I am finaly an Encore owner.  My gun shop had one now for 3 weeks and I was keeping my fingers crossed waiting for my income tax check to come in and crossing the fingers hoping it was still there.  I got into the shop, headed for the rack and breathed a sigh of relief as it was still sitting there.  I picked up a few boxes of .30-06 just so I can break in the barrel (Im a reloader and rarely buy factory fodder.)  The only down side is that the snow is coming again and I may not be able to shoot it for a month or so.  But at least my gun club just finished building a 500 yard range.  It might be open this spring, so I guess I can REALLY see what this gun is made of.  Im hoping the posts I read about so so barrel experinces skips me by.  I dont know if it is any indication, but the hindge pin is nice and tight.  It tokk 7 or 8 taps to get out.  So maybe the barrel will be just fine.  Well I gotta go finish wiping her down and then re-coat her with oil so I can fondle it for a bit  :)  :) !  Thanks to everyone here who helped answer my questions and made my purchase all the more better.  This is the reason I came to this site, because of my impending purchase.  But the reason Im staying is the great people.

Hey Brian, congrats.  Now you will get barrelitis and probably stockitis also.  I read a few posts on Boyds stocks etc... and got a real itch to get a laminated one for my 7m-08.  Sounds like you got the same snow problem we do here in Michigan's Upper Penninsula.  Lots of snow and target shooting dont mix very well.

Ive been drooling over bbls for a while now.  Ive got a Bullberry catalog on the way.  I am also going to get a .454 Casull bbl and the stocks to convert it to a pistol so I can use it for hunting too.  Then there is the possiblity of a second rifle bbl as a side project.  I want something big to shoot that is fun to pop off but still functional.  Maybe a 300 Mag or .375 H&H.  Good moose gun, lotsa noise  :-D !  Ive also looked at custom bbls (VV and Bullberry mainly but some Fox Ridges,) and I would love to get a big bore bbl.  Maybe a 50/70 or a 500 S&W.  But if I do the 50/70 from VV I want to get the bbl full octagoned and get a schnable style forend for it.  Man that would be cool  :) !

Congratualtions on you purchase!!  I know what you mean about waiting.  It took me from May until Oct to get my Encores and now I own 3.  Also, What's this snow business? :)     Here in S California we don't know what that $h#t is! :-D  :-D   We just get that liquid sunshine once in a while, like right now    Anyway enjoy your new toy because it's just the beginning.
