« on: May 09, 2013, 07:18:45 PM »
Can I get a replacement breach plug for my 50 cal Sidekick that does not use the primer carrier? If so Where? Also, can Williams WRGS peeep be used on one? Thanks. Craig.

Craig,

Follow quicks advise on the plug, and yes the Williams WGRS will work on the Huntsman and Sidekick. The sighting radius is a little different on the 24" vs the 26" barrels, and you will generally be in the top half of the scale on the side of the sight. It will screw right into the two back holes for the scope rail.

IIRC the Williams part # for this sight is "WGRS-HR". I bought mine 8 years ago for a Colorado elk hunt, but at that time it was much cheaper to go through the H&R/NEF Customer Service than Williams or other places. They stocked this sight for the BC standard sight. At that time the invoice listed all parts separately, so make sure whoever you talk to knows you want the whole sight. I haven't dealt much with CS since Remington took over, so I'm not even sure if they carry these for sale anymore.

These are good shooting rifles, excellent to outstanding once you get the right components. Good luck!

Your answer is not too many posts down from your post.  It's a long post, every breach plug known is shown.

Tim, with the search function disabled that sticky no longer works.  Can you PM elbow the info?  He asked me about the optional plug and I  don't have one and cannot help him.  Thanks.

Use the google search box at the bottom of the index page until Matt turns the forum search back on.

Here's what I did:

For the breech plug, I just read the sticky.  It's really that easy!

For the peep  I ordered a Skinner.  My Sidekick came with the Williams fire sights.  The Front sight is about .445 tall, and seems to be perfect with the Skinner peep sight.  First time out, at 50 yards, elevation was right on.  Looks like Item #70749 is the part # for the front sight.
