Does anyone know what the highest score ever fired in a 120 rnd match was?. I know that the record is 112 but that is at Registered matches only.

Thanks Davei, I knew it was higher than 112, just didn't know how much. I ask because I just shot a 113,  57& 56.   Thanks

That's good shooting. If it was at a registered match it's a record. If not it ranks real high on the list of scores that don't count, except for bragging rights.

yeah...  true enough...  if not a registered match it's just a good memory.  but...  also great to break through those ceilings.  easier to perform at that level in a big match if you've been there before.  Nice shooting Hornet.

A lot of the Juniors are too inexperienced to understand how hard it is to shoot good scores.

Thanks davei, Iv'e been close to it a couple of times before shot a 111 at a Reg. match couldn't quite do it when I needed to. It was more than enough to win and even beat the standard guns.....but the challenge is why I switched from pistol to rifle.

I use an Anschutz 1712 with the two stage trigger. a Premier Reticles Bumped Leopold 18-40x set on about 24x (because every time I turn it up higher I play chase the freakin dot) Damn I wish I could hold 40x better......But I digress......I use Eley Match EPS  Black Box.  As far as I'm concerned it is worth every penny. (and that was a lot of pennies this summer, almost 6 cases).
In the wind I have never had to hold off of an animal yet this year, and I don't touch my windage knob from my normal zero.
I set the trigger at 2 lbs. 2 ozs.   1lb. 14 ozs of it is on the first stage. I know a lot of people don't agree with that but it seems to work well for me. I never pull up the first stage until I am already inside the animal.  The only other thing I did to the gun was I had it painted Candy apple red for two reasons. I hate not being able to find my gun on the line, now that is never a problem. and second the paint is a bit tacky against my skin so it holds well against my cheek even in the heat of summer when sweating.

Hornet, do you use the 1712 for hunter and standard? I have an 1712 with the old single stage trigger can it be converted to a two stage trigger like yours?

No I usually use a 54.18 for Standard gun, but sometimes I use the Hunter both ways. In that match I put the heavy gun away after the morning match and shot the hunter both ways in the afternoon match.. Now that should raise some questions but it is legal...just not in the middle of a match.
On your other question yes you can put the two stage trigger right into your gun. Two things have to be done. The trigger guard has to be milled open slightly depending on where you set the trigger shoe. and the interior of the stock must be opened with a dremel just a little to allow for free travel of the adjustment screw on the side of the trigger. other wise it will rub.. Both of these are very simple.  The work on the Bottom plate should be done on a mill by someone with machinist experience as the steel is at least  case hardened and you wouldn't want to leave it looking bad on such a nice piece of equipment.  Anshutz has basically left a guide in the metal on the other side of the floor plate. You will understand once you remove it and look at it.   Bill R

Bill can I have my trigger converted to two stage or do I have to buy a two stage trigger and replace my single stage  trigger? If my trigger can be converted to two stage will I have to alter the stock and trigger gaurd? Sorry for all the questions but I didn't quite understand your last post.

Drags Champions Choice sells the new two stage trigger that is from Anschutz which is designed for the Hunter gun. That is thye trigger that I use and was telling you about installing. I believe That Steve Moore in Fl also does a modification to the old style single stage trigers  to make them two stage.  I like the new Anschutz triggers! Hell I wish some one would build one like this for my HP gun.
If you have the old trigger altered I don't know what if anything will have to be done to the stock. If you install the new trigger you will have to do the work.  The other advantage to the new trigger is that the trigger shoe is adjustable for position ...slides front or back some.
If I remember correctly the new trigger from Champions Choice is about $170.    Bill R
