Mac; You haven't lost him. Everytime you think, " wouldn't Dad like this", or "I wish Dad could be on this hunt", he'll be with you.

I was watching the race today with my Dad, He is 81, and I was thinking that I may not have Him or my Mother around much longer, I felt kinda sad thinking that, Then I came here and read this and I almost feel as if I've lost more.  God bless ya Mac.

You and yours are in my family's prayers. I lost my mother a few years back so I can understand your loss. I'm a very practical and oddly unemotional person most of the time but reading the part at the end about hunting made me a little misty. Enjoy the memories and think about those hunts yet to come.

Mac,

I know your dad must have been proud; as you obviously grew into a man that shared his values of faith, family and respect for nature's bounty.

What a testimony to the character of your father!

We're praying for y'all...

I lost my Dad last April so I know the pain your feeling.  I really miss my Dad alot.  He is the one that got me into hunting and fishing.  But I have so many good memories of us either out in a woods hunting squirrel. Or out in a charter boat going after some big blues or strippers.
My prayers go out to you and your family during this time of lost.

Respectfully

Again I want to thank all of my friends and those that I don't know yet,for all your kind words and your prayers. I never knew there could be as much to do as there is,when getting everthing in order for my Mom. It's been unreal to say the least. I've dropped in here from time to time to read all of the nice things you guys have said, and it makes it so much easier to dealing  with all of this.

You Guys & Gals are the  greatest group of people I've ever known..

Mac,
You are definitely dealing with one of the hardest moments in your life. From my family to yours, the good thoughts and prayers will flow. I lost my father over six years ago, and still think of him every day, but now its with a smile most times and not a grimace of loss. Stay strong and cherish the time you did have with him.

My Thanks To All of You this past week
« Reply #45 on: February 21, 2004, 08:41:48 PM »
To all ...

My Father was laid to rest this past Thursday at Jefferson Barracks Military Cemetary. To all of my extended family here all I can say is ThankYou,sincerly ThankYou.Your prayers have given us strenght and your words have given us hope that all will be well for us.

I want to share something with you if I may...I remembered some of these words  as the bugler played Taps for my Father and family...I tried to remember them all as he played but couldn't...so I found them a little while ago and thought you might like to see them here.

Day is done, gone the sun,
From the hills, from the lake, From the skies.  All is well,
safely rest,
God is nigh.

Go to sleep,
peaceful sleep,
May the soldier or sailor, God keep.
On the land or the deep, Safe in sleep.
Love, good night,

Must thou go,  When the day,
And the night Need thee so?
All is well.

Speedeth all To their rest.
Fades the light;  And afar Goeth day,
And the stars Shineth bright, Fare thee well;
Day has gone, Night is on.

Thanks and praise,
For our days, 'Neath the sun, Neath the stars, 'Neath the sky,
As we go, This we know,
God is nigh.

As I sit here typing this I have one of the cartridge cases given to my Mother when they presented to her with  His flag. It's one that will always remain empty and in a place of Honour in my home.

Thank You all again for your support

Mac

My heart goes out to you.  I just left my father-in-laws funeral service.  He was a WWII decorated, and disabled veteran.  Loved by many as attested to by those that stood up and spoke of him.

Their passing brings the reality closer to home of the "Greatest generation" that is soon to be gone.  I'm sure there are no words of comfort right now but time will do it's work to remove the pain and leave you with a lifetime of loving memories.
God, Family, and guns, in that order!
