Try to feed a 270 a 30 .06 round and for sure bad things will happen!! I dont get how a 410 with a full choke could take that. I know of plenty of guys who have/do shoot 44 mags in their 410 shotguns. That being said a 444 or a 454 is a whole other animal.

Looks like a shotgun I gave my brother back in the early 70s.  It had been sitting in the shop for years, so they put it on sale and I bought it cheap $15.00.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Well we better all get one. With enough duck tape we will be in business regardless of what kind of ammo we have.  ;) one gun shoots everything. It will solve the ammo shortage.

Nice to see this sort of thing. A reminder that childish curiosity does not need to end with childhood.

Why would things get worst with a 270 or 3006 ? Both use slower burning powders and reach peak pressure slower than a handgun round. The 3006 chamber pressure is 60000 max, the 270 is 65000 max and the 454 is 65000 max . and intended for handgun length barrels. It also has the most over sized bullet and heaviest . Seems like the 3006 and 270 would be a pcs. of cake after the 454 .  ;)  It might be as the over size bullet travels down the barrel it builds up temperature and is easily swaged down before the cold barrel is forced open or burst. Most 454 jacketed bullets are very tuff the fact the one in the video came apart in water might indicate  it had been stressed to the limit , heated or swaged out of normal shape or all three.

I'm not overly surprised by that video.  Most .410 single shots like the one they used were made on 12ga frames and the exterior dimensions of the barrel were the same as that of a 12ga  at the breach end making for incredibly thick chamber walls.   The muzzle end were usually pretty stout also probably so that the gun would balance half way decently and I probably to some degree for aesthetic reasons.  Have you never fired .410 slugs threw a full choke (the most common configuration) .410 shotgun?

My guess is that the receivers locking mechanism would fail before the barrel burst.

SHOOTALL. I believe he was saying try to fire a 3006 IN a 270 rifle, the larger 06 bullet, 308 dia,  would kick pressures way up trying to go down a 270 bbl. which I believe off the top of my head is a 277 dia, Likely it would blow up. POWDERMAN.  :o :o

I saw a very respected  rifle that was chambered and marked 3006 but had a .270 barrel. Two rounds were fired then it thought something sounded funny. I was at the store when it came back. I noticed the bore was small for a 30 cal. It was a box store no longer in business. The manager was a very nice lady. It was store policy not to accept returned guns. I got her aside and suggested she call the manf. for guidance. They wanted the gun back and authorized giving him a new rifle (all he wanted , I don't think he had a clue) and some free ammo.
BTW not sure a 3006 would chamber in a 270 chamber.
