Buffalo Classic Target Barrell 38-55

Wow, how much is a target barrel going for these days! - I watched one go for $320.00 + shipping on Sunday (ebay).
Perhaps a very nice mother's day present for someone, including both WGRS and FP-TK rear sights, both Patridge and Lyman 17A front sights, and a .400 chamber reaming.  I'm sure there are some that might call that gouging, just because in a 2006 barrel replacement list it may have cost less from the OEM, (or maybe even the whole rifle)!  I just call it out of my range.

That's just called "auction stupid." Not all final prices on eBay represent the legitimate (realistic) value of an item... If someone is buying a barrel on eBay right now, they better want to keep it and shoot it or they are sure to loose money when the current stupidity subsides.

I saw that one myself and was kinda flabbergasted.  But, in retrospect, if somehow I had to replace mine, I'd pay it.  The rifle means that much to me.  If a hundred was shaved off the price, it still would be steep.

I paid $250 for a 38-55 barrel that was in the H&R Classifieds a few months ago. Considering how rare they are I thought it was a good price. Sometimes if you want something you just have to pay what it costs. There is a complete rifle on GB now, opening bid is $485.

I sold that on ebay. That was a fair price since it had 100.00 worth of extra sights, actually more the rear is 85.00 and the front is 35.00. so a 120.00 worth of extra sights.

my avatar pic is my 1960 Rambler I bought in 1972 for $175..6 banger 3-on-the-tree...drove it for 5 yrs  22mpg.. was "hot-rodding" (LOL) one night...tore out 1st/reverse gear. Drove it that way for 2 yrs(with no reverse and only 2nd and high)  Had to really plan ahead when parking.

I still believe that the value of anything is determined by what someone will pay for it.  If you have a 10K diamond ring you inherited but wouldn't sell it for anything....then the value of it is 0 - it  is purely sentimental and not monetary.  On the other hand if something is put up for auction, then the bidding determines the value.  A good deal is one where both parties are satisfied with the deal, price notwithstanding.   ;D   How many of us have favorite rifles we say we "wouldn't sell at any price?"   ::)   Just my opinion, and it's worth just what it cost.  Gerald
