The rifle I have is an I.Hollis and Sons Commercial Martini with a Greener style action that was chambered in Westley Richards No. 2Musket.

I say was because what you see is the rifle before it was scheduled to be destroyed by the South African Police. The rifle barrel wasn't registered. I was able to convince them that cutting the threads off and and drilling out the rifling destroyed the barrel.

As soon as I finish unpacking all the stuff from my 24' x 32' dedicated gun shop into the one car garage I now have I am going rebuild the rifle. I will use the old barrel as a sleeve.

That's a beautiful old rifle, I hate to think of the number of fine old rifles destroyed by idiots who don't think and can only follow regulations. It's not like you can go to Walmart for a box of ammo for these rifles. If you are going to sleeve it you might consider doing it in 45-70 for the ease of reloading, bet you could work up a load to shoot to the sights. That's some great data on the old cartridge by the way, thanks.

I have the reamer on order for the Musket No.2. Kynoch will have new brass for us soon. Supposedly in March. We'll see. I think I may have located some in Australia. CH4D will provide the dies.

45-70 would be appropriate for Reminton rolling block, but it just doesn't seem right to do it to a Martini, especially something like the Hollis.

There is other restoration that must go on with this rifle. It's missing it's but plate and grip cap, and the fore end is not original.

Sounds like you have it under control. Any idea as to what sort of primer the Kynochs will have? I haven't been involved with any of their new brass or cartridges at all, I'm still working with a stock of Bell that I picked up years ago and is still going strong. RCBS 300 GC and 405 GC bullets work well in my rifle with IMR 3031 and CCI 200 primers. Horn would look good for the butt plate and grip cap, may be able to get it from Brownells or Mike's Outfitters (the old Cape Outfitters). Where are you in Va? I have a sister and brother in law in Bentonville, south of Front Royal.
Do you do any reloading for you 375 2 1/2? It's another one I,ve enjoyed.
