Back when these rifles first came into this country there was basically two or three types of ammo available. What I had available locally was some argentine 1946 ammo, some hirtenberg patronnen ap ammo and of course norma. The listed velocity for the norma was in the area of 2900 fps with a 150 grain bullet. The military stuff was pretty stout and the norma even more so. Norma to my knowledge never made any distinction between the 1891 and 1909 rifles. Just to be safe here I would not be concerned about shooting your ammo in a 1891 rifle. My concern would be wether or not it was corrosively primed. And clean accordingly. The latter norma now has downloaded their 7.65 ammo to about 2500 feet per second. Frank
