Okay, so I know the process of sending it is relatively easy. Call to get the order number, yotta yotta yotta... I can send it in directly from me too the factory, UPS Ground. Now getting it back is where I am getting mixed answers...
I picked up my new receiver (NW-2006 NEF SB2, thanks to a fellow member here) at the FFL this morning. I asked him how I needed to go about getting it back from the manufacturer once a barrel was put on it. I know in some cases that if you send a rifle in for work, you can receive it back at your home address. He told me that I would have to have it sent back to him, re-registered from "frame" to "rifle" and charged an extra $50... Then his fellow co-worker chimed up and said "No, you can have it sent right back to you at their charged shipping rate." and a nice little debate happend where no clear answer was given...
Also, a 3rd guy, who apparently did this a year ago, said I can send the receiver in, get a $25 hinge pin installed, and order whatever barrel I want from now on and have it sent to my house and all the barrels will interchange. Too me that reminded me of the Rossi Wizard but at this point I was just nodding my head and trying to duck out lol...
So I guess what I am looking to find out is:
1) Do I need to have it sent (returned) to my FFL?
2) Will I have to have it re-registered again?
3) Does such a pin exist from the Manufacturer that I wouldn't have to send it in every time?
I know you guys and gals do this A LOT and I trust your input on this!
