Used Aimpoint 5000 2X
« on: May 16, 2013, 06:54:18 AM »
I would like to get some advice both good and bad on a Aimpoint 5000 2X. I've found a very good used one  for around 100.00. Thought I would put it on my Rem 7600 in 35rem short for this Fall . I realize its kind of old compared to the new ones, but for the price it might be worth it.      Thanks for any advice.

good reliable units. Only thing they lack is the battery life of the newer ones and that there a bit larger in size. Well worth  a 100 bucks though.

Used Aimpoints are almost always a good deal. (Price pending)

They are a a I've quality product with a good warranty. I have a 5000 and its on my wife's turkey barrel. It works wonderfully. I have owned nearly every model from the very first. I still use a 2000 long and a 5000. I use a Comp C on my bullseye target gun. I even have a old 1000 on a H&R sportster 22LR. Great scopes.

Generally speaking I do not like red dots for hunting as the small batteries will not stand long time in cold being on. But many of the aim points have a auto off feature. Where if they do not sence light they will shut down. I have had mine in a case and ON for six month and when I took it out of the box it still worked!! But the cold kills all batteries and small batteries faster. Used in warm weather I have had the batteries last me a couple YEARS! (That's indoors and warm all the time)
If your in a warm climate you may be just fine. It's a quality dot that will take mag recoil and rough service and remain accurate. Our seals and other elite forces would not use them if they where not quality.

Personally I will buy everyone I come across if the price is fair.
