This is what happens when your state is overrun by illegal aliens.  The  Mexican dominated state legislature passes laws making life easier for illegal aliens and harder for American citizens.  California has fought for years to ease restrictions on illegal Mexicans to lower standards for them in connection with college admissions, drivers' licenses and compliance with car insurance.  (It's "racist" to require non-whites to have registration, drivers' licenses and insurance.)

Now they're working on passing a law to require a permit to buy ammo that will require a $50.00 fee for a  background check.  They could just as easily make it an annual requirement and raise it to $500.00 or $1,000.00 for a permit....just to buy ammo.  In 1989, in the aftermath of the Stockton school shooting, I predicted that private gun ownership in California would be eliminated within 20 years.  It looks like I was only a few years off.

We in California are totally screwed.  Only armed resistance like a civil war will stop these people.  California is, for all practical purposes, a political subdivision of Mexico.  For God sakes get on  board and oppose amnesty for illegal aliens or they will destroy your state too...just as they have done in California.

Igm270, it is frustrating to watch your home state give away what you on the other hand, had to work for. Ive never felt gun confiscation would work but ammo monitoring would.

It is the reverse of what we keep telling him.  We keep telling him if Communist or Western European Socialism states are so much better than the US rather than ruin the place for the rest of us we all at one point or another have told him to leave and go one of these eutopian states.
Si Guzzi is simply telling us that is CA has become a Socialist state and Progresive communism is not acceptable to us weshould simply move and leave the state to the failing Socialists and let it collapse under their own stupidity.  Clearly it has not worked anywhere else in the world it will not work here.

I agree, but we need to also put restrictions on legal immigration.  It is the legal immigration that is wiping out the white middle class.  Illegal immigration mostly affects the white working class.
Study after study has shown how dangerous distracted driving is yet people continue to talk on their cell phones while driving. Driving in the U.S. requires your full attention. Many states and countries have made it illegal to use a cell phone while operating a motor vehicle and the federal government should follow their lead. Banning the use of cell phones while driving would have the added benefit of making the no-texting law enforceable.

Guzzi..  You ought to rethink that question!  I too live in a beautiful state (NY)..which is being despoiled by a bunch of big city jackasses (Democrat symbol), same as California.  It has wonderful hunting and fishing resources and most citizens outside the big cities believe strongly into freedom and the constitution.  Why should we surrender to a bunch of Marxist inspired jerks?  Besides I've lived here longer than many of those upstart, leftist legislators..
NY has at least 8% sales tax on nearly every item sold.  It looks like they want to forego that percentage of ammo sales..and let bordering states and the Indian reservations pick it up.  So be it!

These politicians are so blind that they can't learn from Mexico..which has disarmed their honest citizens and left them at the mercy ;) :P  of the criminal gangs...  That is the leftist mindset!

The blue states, unless their voters suddenly smarten up and elect conservatives, will soon go broke...and then, who knows..even the liberal voter may come to their senses..

Why not work to fix the problem, immigration?  When the car breaks down, do you buy a new car or do you fix it? The problems with California is a Federal problem.  What affects California will affect all other states.  When you think about California's problems, think of it as a good sample of the national problem.  Whatever they are doing there doesn't work.  There is still time to change course nationally so it doesn't end up like California.

How can you compare changing the mindset of politicians to repairing an automobile?
Nobody wanted unleaded fuel in the 1970's and drivers refused to buy it until that's all there was to buy. How could this have been reversed?
The oceans and tributaries were once exempt from licensing when harvesting fish but that has changed. How would you have reversed this?
This topic is no different but its a sore subject because the focus is firearms. Many politicians that are loud second amendment advocates are back peddling now and what is going to change this?
This has been coming for decades and unless millions of firearm owners take to the streets with guns in hand, nobody will listen.
Its an endless tide that can't be stopped because the government only understands one thing and there aren't enough Americans in this country willing to lay down their life for what they believe in.
They have their comfortable life and don't give a hoot over their land becoming a police state.
Governments are getting filthy rich from DUI's and people want marijuana legalized. Local law enforcement agencies are grinning from ear to ear at the thought of all those $10,000  DUI's. How do you change all this? Our laws being used against us?

Did you ever hear of closing the barn after the horse is ling gone?

Term limits is a great place to start.  If a politician KNEW he/she could not serve more than 2 terms..At least in the second term, they may be moved to do what is right, rather that trhat which will best get them elected!
Term limits would be a hard sell with the politico-parasite class.. but if the public really insisted..such could be done.

]Why should he have to leave his home state? That is about the most ignorant question ever asked.Almost to the point of moronic.Besides,it's would seem to be an illegal tax. Remember, the power to tax is the power to destroy. Can also tell the questioner lives safely in the bowels of the midwest, where he does not deal with this issue of illegals and the vote buying issues which go along with it.A defenate statement of ignorance.

To the original post. Why would you buy a permit to be able to buy ammo, when everyone knows the liberals want to ban guns anyhow.

Flash, I understand your frustration.  Our problem is with immigration (I hope it's your problem also).  There are some who enjoy the hobby but are also tickled pink that we have this massive third world immigration into America.  For a few, America isn't an independent country, it is just a hub to be used for some higher perceived interest.  Throwing up your hands and playing it safe is exactly what the America haters would like for us to do. What they fear, desperately fear, is the country pulling together into a national alliance.  To do that, we need to come to agreement with what the problems are.  Then we can all demand that one or two problems and only those two problems be dealt with.

The problems are endless Middle East wars and our wreck less Legal/Illegal immigration system.  If we can only forget about our small differences, like abortion, taxes, regulation, etc and reclaim our ground on keeping America only fighting when it's national interests are affected, and limiting and even reversing legal and illegal immigration, then I believe we will prevail, and that means ultimately rolling back every gun control law if we desire.  We first need to focus primarily on those two issues above in a pincer like strategy, the wars and immigration.  If we do that, no special interest lobby will touch us.  We will form a massive voting block that will sweep from the streets anyone we don't like the looks of.

since the prospects of a free kaliforika are slim barring a Supreme Court overruling all anti-gun laws, the best idea would be to move to Free America. Too many tree huggers have overtaken the kalifornika electorate to hope for reason and rational thinking to break out.

At some point the Democrat party that is made up of many different groups that all opose something of traditional America and the unlimited freedoms we all share.
At some point a state like CA that will have drivien out all conservitives and completly being run by the Democrats will then turn on each other and fight over their vision of how the state should be run.  The vegans will be trying to outlaw animals in captivity, the anti illegal immagration people will make the brader wide open and hand out everything tyhey think was stole from the Mexicans after the war of 1848.   The Civil rights groups are still waiting for the 40 acrers and a mule the deomcrats have promised them since the 1870's and have never fufilled.  The remaining rich liberals will be shocked when the rest turn on them and steal their property.

Sometimes you just need to remind the morons that thinking that way ruined California and you do not what it to ruin your state.  Usually wakes up the Ex Californians and often they realize what they are saying and shut up,

i agree^^^

there are those of us who have our homes paid for and find that in our later years, cannot afford to just "Pick up and go" yet we systematically see our rights being eroded, our property being slowly taxed out from underneath of us and our children and grandchildren being systematically being "Put to the back of the bus" in favor of the illegal immigrant invaders...notice i use the term "ILLEGAL immigrants"? the left has decided to eliminate the word "ILLEGAL" and determined that it is not applicable...that anyone from any other nation may enter here, at will, as an IMMIGRANT with the same status, and privileges, as a LEGAL immigrant, or a natural born citizen.

those very property taxes are being levied to support those illegals! the city of LA will not impound an illegals car if he is stopped and has no valid drivers license..."It make it too hard on them to get to work" as per LAPD chief...if i get caught under the same conditions...i'm going to jail and face a heavy fine along with a heavy increase in auto insurance...the list goes on...

Here in Phoenix a Phoenix cop who I knew thru a co worker was ran over and killed by an illegal while he was on a traffic stop. So much for the statement the pro illegals use that it is a victimless crime. I want to explode every time I hear them use that line.
