Thinking About a Super Blackhawk

Well....I was all set to buy a Rossi .44 mag lever action to hunt deer in Indiana.  Then...I stumbled on a like new SS Super Blackhawk .44 with a 7 1/2" barrel.  Now I'm trying to convince myself I don't need another handfun.  I know, the correct answer is buy both, but that isn't realistic right now.  What to do?   :-\   Probably the wrong forum to ask that question!  SBH ownders chime in on what you like/dislike about your Ruger.

They do have layaway.  I may just pick up both as the pricing is great.

Only dislike I had with the 10.5" bull was packing it hunting, the 7.5" was OK.  Was long ago and I used a bandoleer for the long SBH, nearly knocked myself out trying to get it out when two bucks jumped up.   By the time I got it untangled they were gone.   I tried the bandoleer because the 7.5" was heavy enough in a belt holster.  I'd hiked up over many tall mountains many times with it and by the end of the day decided the 4 5/8" would be my carry the next day. What I should have done was used a sling for the bull.   My young son could shoot the bull pretty well even with hot loads, but he couldn't carry it very far.

I like the SBH and have owned several . But if I were you and one gun was what I can get now I would do a little soul searching to see which one would do the most good . If you have a rifle to hunt with and no revolver then there you go. If the other way around then there you go .

By all means, brother, get both.  I have a 7 1/2" SBH and a Rossi 92 - case hardened receiver with 20" octagonal barrel.  I got a western holster rig for the SBH with cartridge belt.  I carry both deer hunting, and even though I'm a little over-gunned, I feel like a real cowboy, LOL.  Seriously, it really is fun to carry them both, even though I get laughed at by my brother and friends.  They keep teasing me about needing a cowboy hat and duster.

There's so many variations of Rugers you can't get them all but for shooting the 7 1/2" are great and for packing the 5" with an alloy frame and ejector housing is great and shoots well too. H08

I have both a Marlin 1894 .44 and a SBH 5.5" .44.  Gosh, I'd hate not to have either one.
