Which One ??
« on: June 15, 2013, 02:38:14 PM »
I recently got bac into shooting Contenders and am wondering what Scope you are using ?  I have a Weaver 2.8 -8 on a K-Hornet, A Bushnell 2-6 On a 7 TCU and a 2X Leupold on a 22 LR Match. Asking if there are better choices--Have a 30-30 AI that needs glass. Seems to me a lot of shooter are using the Burris.

Now that my eyes are older- I Guess that make me OLD TOO !!! LOL I feel that I am going to need all the advantage I can get.

Bac in "The Day" I Had the Denver 4x Redfield and was very satisfied with it and a Burris 10X.

Thanx,
Jim

A 30-30 AI shouldn't be too hard on a scope you have a lot of choices.  If you go to the MidwayUSA web site, you can read various reviews on the products they sell.  Last I looked, the reviews on Burris handgun scopes were very complimentary but a lot of people use them.  My handgun scopes of choice are Leupold and Thompson/Center since both companies stand behind their warranties and their scopes are decent.

Looks like you may be scoping your pistol barrels? This is the rifle site so at first I couldn't tell with the scopes you mentioned.
You might get more responses over on the pistol section here.
I started shooting Contender pistols back when the only options were....two...either the Leupold 2X or the 4X..LOL!
I put the 2X on first [.35 Rem Super 14] because just having a SCOPE on a pistol was something new for me. Also put same on a Ruger Mark I 22 Auto pistol but although it was accurate it seemed to make that pistol about as cumbersome as a rifle but harder to hold on target.
I now have a Simmons 2x-6x but have not shot it enough to know much about it. I do know it's a 'on the bench only' deal when set to 6X!......I'm not used to holding the gun anywhere near as still as the 6X magnification wants!
Somehow I also have a Tasco 3X fixed now, and am scoping only one pistol, a Redhawk 44 [non 'super'] that is easy to remove or install the scope with the Ruger rings on the barrel rib. Scope on for testing loads at the range, scope off for everything else.

I was wondering the same thing.  If it is pistols you are scoping post and I will move the thread to the pistol forum.
