Remington stopped making them for awhile, don't know if they started up again.

And everyone that is even selling a used one wants more than the price of a new one. I will just wait and eventually I will get one at the rite price

The price of the org. old Marlin's are going up, if it's the newer remlins used I wold look real close at as there may be problems with it.

I believe there were so many quality control issues and returned carbines to Remington/Marlin that they shut down the production line of their lever guns until they got better craftsmen in place...they were loosing alot of previously loyal Marlin customers.

Is this why the Rossi 92 leverguns in 357 seem to be in short supply as well?  Those are a nice little alternative, and get lots of favorable mention by website members (this one as well as a few others), but seem to be have been out of stock lately.  Is it because they've been swamped by demand created by Marlin's production problems?

Looks like several Marlin 1894C's are available on GunBroker.com (search "Marlin 357").  The MSRP listed for 1894C on Gallery of Guns is $707.95.  Those on Gunbroker.com are in the mid to upper $500's.


Marlin 1894C list prices are quite a bit higher than a Marlin 336 in 30-30 (MSRP ~$500+).  Probably due to lower production numbers of 1894C's.

I see some on both Gunbroker and Auction Arms. 


I'm glad I got mine a few years ago when I did - 1894 CB LTD.

I have looked at the 1894Cs on a couple of auction sites, guess I will have to treat mine with more respect with the prices asked!

    Well, here we go again with the "I can't find a certain gun" issue.
 
    I think what folks really mean is that they can't find a .357 lever for cheap.
 
   Go to any large gunshow.  You will find lots and lots of them, both new and used.  Yea, they cost about $150 more than they use to.   That is free enterprise at work.  :-)

Very popular low-recoil caliber, combined with the fact that the Remlins have a bad rep combined with the fact that no one wants to let their old JM stamped rifles go combined with the fact that there is the Obama scare, combined with the fact that the ones that are showing-up have inflated prices because of all of the above.


I'm glad I got mine when I did.
