So far I have used range pickups for brass. Clean, decap, sort by brand, inspect, etc,. Then I reload them. So far no trouble. Seems the Remi's are the most damaged. Primers seem to be the hardest to find. Found a shop about 30 miles from here, and would only sell two boxes of each type per person. So, I took a friend and my 21 year old son and got 6 of each. Already had some, but got these for additonal insurance. 308 brass seems to be harder to find also at my local range than 223 brass. Kids from college just go spray their AR's and 9mm's. Lots of that brass. Also lots of 40 S&W brass. Before deer season I can find a lot of 30-06 and 270 brass as well as 30-30. Another brass that is hard to find at the range is 44 mag. My friend needs 30 carbine brass and bullets.
Things are getting a little bit better, but not much. 22 lr's are finally showing up, but are limiting sales.
When I get some more money, I think I am going to buy a 17HMR rifle and maybe a 40 s&w. Seems no one gave out of ammo on these two during the shortage. Might even buy a 22 Hornet. I saw a 22 Hornet pistol at a gun show at a good price. I priced out the materials for a 22 Hornet. Not counting brass, bullets, primers and power cost about the same as 22 mag. Brass should be able to reload about 10 times. Something to think about over a 22 mag weapon. Oh, also 38 sp and 357's were still on the shelf during shortage also. Hmmm.
Sorry if I hijacked the thread. How long did it take to get your orders filled?
