I lived in this area of Chicago many seasons ago, but I don't recall hearing of a cannon being stolen from that cemetery.
As I read this article and saw the picture of the replacement TUBE, I thought my usual: I guess it's better than nothing; but is it really? Maybe it would have been better to have a simple stone dedicated to Chicago residents that served in the CW, than to display that eyesore. It kind of reminds me of the old adage, "the road to hell is paved with good intentions".

RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

99.99999999% of the public won't know the difference and if someone steals it, oh well.

I hope that as large a percentage of members here realize that I misspelled Napoleon.

Ought to be concrete...  aluminum scrap is too valuable...  someone will steal the replacement.

Email them to contact Zulu.  Cemetary guns might be a growth niche.  Just find some good looking bronze paint.

Try painting one bronze; you can always paint it black again if you don't like it.  Black paint was for iron guns.

You got that right, flagman1776. Here’s a place where you can go on vacation for a week, and come home to find your gutters gone. They’ll just love that aluminum Civil War cannon "replica".
