Range report
« on: June 15, 2013, 11:52:58 AM »
Tim fixed a pair of barrels for me that I had messed up (yeah I tried to convert from ejector to extractor and was less than successful). Took one to the range this morning and after some work zeroing the scope I was getting some nice groups with the little gun. Best combo were 100 gr. Remington Core-Lokt over 28 grs. Accurate 5744. Did NOT have much luck with cast. My only Handis that shoot great with cast are the 45-70s, both the BC and the short Handi. But I'll keep working on it..........
While shooting the action jammed and the little piece pictured was laying loose in the open action. I removed it and the rifle closed just fine and I kept on shooting. Any ideas what it is??

Looks like a piece of the latch or possibly transfer bar, latches have been known to break.  :-\

There's a pic size limit, that pic uses it up, post each pic in a separate reply.  ;)

SHOCK-PROOF doesn't seem to be strong enough for you ;D

Curious what it is and why it's still working OK.

If it's the latch, the other half is holding it in place and functional, pic is of a pardner part, they don't show a pic of the Handi, only one side of the rifle latch has the "cogs" for the release.

I have an extra receiver laying around no barrels fit but it's too nice to tear apart. I need to open one up to understand how they work and the parts but I'm chicken or smart enough to know better ;D
I usually have a part or two left over when I reassemble stuff, long as it still works it's been OK.
