Reloading 10 Gauge

How many of you reload for the 10 gauge/
I was reading in one of my reloading manuals last night and it mentioned that a 1 1/4 ounce load was prime load for ducks traveling around 1350 to 1400 fps! Also said recoil was not very bad with this type of load. Anybody have any experience with this type of load?

Can you be more specific about which manual you were looking at?
 
 
I've not used the 10 gauge, but no doubt it uses the same physics and concepts as the twelve gauge and other shotshells .....
 
Shot loads around 1-1/4 or more were indeed used in the 10 gauge when that shell was more popular, usually in the 19th century.  But 1300-1400fps is damn fast!
 
If I was shooting the tenner, I'd be content with 1225-1275fps.

For me
1 1/4oz works good on smaller ducks over decoys Shot #2 an smaller
Look at loads in the 1450 to 1500
1/1/2oz works good on larger ducks, Pass shooting, decoyed geese Shot #2 to BB
Look for loads in the 1500 to 1550
1 5/8oz works for pass shooting geese, Shot #BBB  @ 1450  to 1500

Kskybroom,
 I am  just getting into reloading the 10 gauge and thinking about a MEC model 600. Every time I think I have all questions answered another one pops up!
In regard to bushings , I have a chart that gives the powder charge that certain bushings with certain types of powders. My question is how to come up with the correct bushing for a powder that is not covered on my chart! Would it be better just to go ahead and get a Universal Charge Bar instead of trying to figure out what specific bushing to get?
