http://www.military-historians.org/3stolencannons.pdf Coincidentally I was in Gettysburg PA yesterday on business, before I saw this flyer about the theft. There was a major Civil War artifact/relic show at the Eisenhower Inn in town. One of my Gettysburg contacts told me there were some small cannons at one of the vendor's booths inside the show. I didn't go into the show to check them out, however, and I'm not going to bother Mr. Howell about it since at this point he has not located any photos of the actual items stolen, and the descriptions given in the flyer are at best somewhat vague.
The owner/collector of the "400" cannons, Hampton P. Howell, Jr., was a good friend, and over a 20+ year period I bought many of them, a few at a time. Some of the better model cannons I've posted photos of, came from that collection. So I'm sorry to hear that the last three cannons the family has, were stolen.
