Cannon Lock - Just had to post to this one.

I have one of these, and it is a really nice reproduction that I'll use on my Blomefield 3 PDR...., but I may add an anchor to it and send it to auction!!!

     That is a really nice looking gun, Mike.  What bore size is it?  Do you plan shooting a projectile from it?  If so, what type?  If you build another be sure to let us follow that process with an occasional photo.  Very Nice!!

I am always amused by the "experts" at auction houses..... "French cannon lock"  Not French but British.
Cannonmn has a nice example of a French lock ......

Thanks Guys! I have the entire carriage build documented. Just need to put it all together. Can anyone advise as to the best format for viewing it? I can do the Powerpoint, Windows Movie Maker or just a series of images, but I'm not sure which would work best for the forum.

It's a 3 PDR, little less than 3" diameter bore. Would like to blow some smoke and make some noise with it, but because of the age I'm not sure about firing projectiles.  Will get out to the barn and will take some more photos of the finished product and post.

I need to give a lot of credit to a Forum Member for his expert guidance in building the carriage. Won't post his specs unless he would like to have them out there, but he was indispensible in getting it correct.

I've been using Picturetrail.com for years it plays nice with all the forums.... I have been using it since
2002 and have never had site issues where photo's have been down or lost......

Thanks Kabar! Signed up, now just need to get my pics edited and arranged. I think I have about 60 or so total so need to sort them out, from the cutout to the finish.

On the cannon lock, I got mine from an outfit in Canada. They were very good, only had two left and they got one to me in about a week. I'm sure the one in the auction is the same just aged and stamped to look official. IMA has another that they are claiming to be original, but look at the flashpans on both. How does the spark get to the cannon???

I'm going to make a fitting on mine and mount it for looks. It was already (of the period) drilled for one.

Mike, they have a free basic photo editor for those who need it, uploading photo's to their site is
very easy all you have to decide is whether you want to lock your photo files or not..... I don't bother
because there is nothing there I wouldn't post in public....

Careful discussing IMA and their lock...... they were ready to take someone to court over it.......

Thanks for the heads-up. Well heck, maybe they are all real, maybe NOS that was never drilled!

How does that get mounted to the cannon?  How do you clean it out... it seems that alot of corrosive residue would end up getting inside of that thing and not be able to be gotten out easily

Lots of info here. Most of them were mounted to the side of the touch hole on a bracket. Unfortunately this article doesn't show them mounted.
