You know for sure that your government leaders are all screwed up as usual. They tell the public maijuana is no good for you and make it illegal to posses it. On one hand they are spending some big bucks for law enforcement of these laws. Now the re-started their don't smoke campaign,spending some large amount of cash. On the flip side of the coin they are still subsidizing tobacco farmers. Total hypocretes.

Look at the mount of taxes the Govt. places on tobacco products and you know they don't want you to stop buying them.

Most likely marijuana will be legalized on the federal level eventually. Just to much of a cash cow to ignore.

Farm subsidies play on the greed of the farmer, so that the government can control them. This was brought on by the seed company suppliers lobbiests. For instance, there are certain seed crops that the farmer cannot put back at harvest without permission from that seed company, even though the farmer bought the original seeds to plant the crop in the first place.
The government ENFORCES these laws in payment for campagin donations from lobbiests. To keep the farmers happy, they can sign themselves AND non farming family members up for these millions of dollars of tax payer dollars. It's THE BIGGEST welfare program on the books.

Not sure that tobacco farmers get much anymore since the allotment system went away and they can grow all they want.
