Gonna spend a couple of weeks in west Texas.

What do we absolutely have to see/do in West Texas??? The in laws will be meeting us at white sands. They will be pulling a smallish trailer with a pickup, we will be using a pickup camper. We aren't real interested in cities. Leaving Wyo about the 21st this month. This is a good time to head south to warm up.

Sounds like you will be starting off in New Mexico at White Sands so you might consider going to the Carlsbad Caverns. In West Texas there is a nice place to head to called Balmorhea State Park. It has a spring fed pool built by the CCC in the 1930's. There is also the McDonald Observatory close to there and the Davis Mountains State park and quite a few other sites close as well. Between Monahans and Odessa there is the Sandhills State Park and in Midland there is the petroleum museum. If you were to go further east there is Fort Concho in San Angelo as well. If you head towards the panhandle towards Amarillo try seeing Palo Duro canyon which is pretty impressive.

There are lots of places to see and visit just depends on where your interests are.

Yup, we might just circle around the El Paso area in and out of New Mexico. Looks like a cluster of State parks and historic places in the area. We like State parks almost better than National stuff.

War Eagles Air Museum in Santa Teresa (right by W. El Paso) if you like war birds.......the horses are also running at Sunland Park right now.  Old Mesilla if you want to shop, get some good Mexican food (turisty now...was an old stage coach station).  Fort Davis is historical, Chisos Basin at Big Bend is nice.  Franklin Mountain State Park.........just make sure you stay on marked trails.....amazing on how many rescuses they have to do out here.....take plenty of water.
