17mach2 sportster
« on: January 31, 2014, 04:12:29 PM »
well, Im waiting on my 17mach2 sportster and my 17HMR to come back from the Barrel Acc. Program. So far I have only been able to find the Hornady 17grain varmint express shells. (HMR) and 17mach2, It looks like im going to get 150-200 rounds, with the gun. Sure tough to find ammo around here. I have a friend that travels and he is supposed to be checking on both types of ammo supposedly there is 500 rounds of Mach 2 in Madison, wi. I am going to see if I can pay for it over the phone tomorrow and have him pick it up. It is some sad times we live in when you have to hunt harder for ammo than for game.

Hopefully, I will get the ammo and once sighted in this old girl won't be going bang unless something can go flop.... ::)  Its a shame, Ive wanted a mach 2 sportster ever since I heard that they made em, now I hate to think about finding ammo for it.....Ironically, I have a savage 17m2, but ran out of ammo for it long ago and haven't been able to find it locally....

Heck it wasnt until last week that I actually found some .22LR. 60 dollars for 1000 shells and that was from the local wally world, and it was the last of the ammo they had in stock for .22 and no idea when they would get more.... :'(

I've bought a lot of Mach 2 on gunbroker
Lately seems like a lot of people have it for sell
If the price gets too high. I let it go by and wait for more to come along.

Ha- ya shpuld have let me buy the mach two- Ya beat me by a few hours :D I too have a savage bolt gun in the HM2 chambering and was lookin for a sportster or/and a contender barrel priced right. That mach 2 was the closest to a reasonable price I have seen lately for sure. Funny how guys want so much for a gun in a round where ammo is out over a year at best and maybe even worse, unless you find old stock.

I saw someone post of a closeout price before this last panic and searched and called the store and bout 3000 rounds and have not seen any since the last rush. I like you do not plan on other than sighting in then critters with this round!

you know its funny, I would have passed on it, but the ammo was the selling point for me.  While its not a whole lot of ammo, it will at least satisfy the need to shoot the rifle. hopefully, I will be able to find some more. Normally, Im not a gun show person but will have to hit a couple in the near future...

haha- with a name like a4beltfed I would not think a couple hundred rounds would satisfy ya :)  I almost bought one of those before the prices went nuts on them but I hem hawed to long and the 2000 price for the Israeli mut went to six then outta sight but I wish i would have got one of them... BTW I saw a mini a4 in 17 mach 2 on youtube at one time!

yeah when ammo was plentiful we use to shoot alot. I still have 10,000 rounds of 8mm but haven't shot the beltfeds in a while. my M2hb has been setting idle for the last 5-6 years because of the price of ammo.... When I got my first beltfed they were around 1K and your right a friend sold his last year for 3,500.00 and his M2HB with m63 AA tripod and m3 tripod sold for 12k....not a bad return on your money ::)

I worked a gunshow this past weekend and the guy next to me had 20 boxes of cci... he was marked at 12 and change- I asked if he wanted to move some and he qouted me ten... I was very close to buying and sellin ya some but did not know if ya would be interested with shipping etc... I asked if they would ship thinking I would just give you and others the info but they were not into that.
