Need a little help on reloading 223/5.56

Is anyone using the old powder "Dupont" IMR-4227 to load 223/55gr.hollow point?I have a few cans of this powder,but can't find any listings on loads.I've used it for hand gun rounds years past.Any help is welcome :-\

Bob 4227 is too fast to be an appropriate powder for 223/556.  It may be possible to load reduced loads but not for the average loader.  Pick something better suited such as H335, WW748, 4895, etc.  I use WC844 for AR loads.

I completely agree!!

There are far better powders for the 223.

Personally I like H322 and a 52/53g Match bullet.

That's my Contender load in .223.  Same powder but with a 139 gr. bullet in 7TCU also.


BTW I get better performance from my ARs with something just a tad slower. ;)
