Lots of deer in the Hocking Hills area !
« on: September 06, 2022, 03:16:17 AM »
I spent 4 days in this area last week and seen dozens of deer.  My wife and I and another couple rented a cabin not far from the state park and went for a lot of walks and seen deer everywhere. We were on a gravel secondary road and in the evenings I took a short drive near sundown on a couple days and deer were browsing along the road and seen crossing and standing in fields nearly everywhere I looked.  Only seen a few bucks that weren’t anything giant but the sheer numbers of deer I seen was impressive.

I heard there were many, many more deer and big/huge bucks in Michigan just north of the Ohio state line...

Hi Mule,  That’s exactly where I live now. I do see many does and fawns nearly daily in the farm fields on both sides of my house but the bucks are in their bachelor groups now and seem to be hanging out near the river Raisin about a mile away.
Bucks always seem to stay away from the does until the rut is near and you don’t see them out in the open much.

I am hoping for a good year hunting as this will only be my second deer season in MI since moving from OH in 2021.
