I converted one
« on: February 15, 2014, 09:42:02 PM »
I  was talking about my new H&R 44 mag at work. one of the guys who has a gun collection I envy wanted to shoot.  I was short of time but told him to meet me at home and we would shoot a group or two before chores. He brought his Ruger m77 in 44 mag with a scoped we shot at 100 yards free hand this is my group   He did not take his Ruger from the case. He was amazed that a cheap rifle  his words shot so well.  He was still shooting my H&R when I started choring.
DON’T get in a gun fight with a buffalo hunter there is no such thing as cover against a 45 70

That's good to see another convert is always a plus.  I am really glad the rifle is shooting well, I don't like to sell junk without telling the buyer what i think is wrong with it.  That .44 always shot well since the day I took it out of the box.

littledog, when does he get his first Handi and when does he sign up on GBO? Nice to see when you can convince someone the H&Rs are good shooters. Take care, John.
It's not what you do, but how you do what you do, that counts.
Just keep on keeping on!

I had one of the guys whose family farms my place over here a couple of years ago.  I don't think he ever shot a rifle in his life.  We were just out on the back deck.  I brought out the 22 inch .45-70 and showed him where the gong was on the berm, and where to aim.  He rested on the deck rail...Bang..Klang.....and wide open eyes with a look of sheer wonderment.  He couldn't believe he hit something he could barely see 300 yards away.

Here's the sad part....No convert.  The boy went out and bought a Savage .243.  No accounting for some folk's taste. ??? ???

Pete

P.S.  They have a continuing wolf problem, so I can well understand the .243.  My Handi .243 is my dedicated wolf rifle when they need a hand.
Keep both eyes open and make the first shot good.
