Just about died out around here
« on: November 10, 2023, 05:12:36 PM »
CAS was a thing in this area for a while.
I haven't heard a peep about it in a couple of years
now.
I guess it was like the muzzleloading/buckskinning
in this area. Everybody was all hyped up, and it
just faded away. Besides myself, I only personally
know of less than a half a dozen people that use
muzzleloaders.
I never had any close friends that participated
in CAS
I knew a small dealer that did that I would talk
to about the different aspects of it.
Years ago an ex BIL and myself tried to get
involved in the buckskinning thing with little
success.  I happened to talk some with a man
that did CAS, and those people were much
more friendly and receptive to outsiders being
interested in it. I was more impressed by the
friendly CAS group at their get togethers than
with the standoffish buckskinning people.

Looks like it's been a pretty long time since
anybody dusted off the CAS here at GBOR
as well  :-\

When I was a kid I didn't dress up for Halloween, didn't believe in Santa Claus, or the Easter bunny, so CAS, or buckskinning (what ever that is) never got a minutes consideration.

Where is "here" or "up here"?
I'm in Orygun and CAS is alive and well although thinned out mostly due to aging. The state of Washington, especially the west half if doing OK too.

CAS used to be fairly active here, well at the other GBO site we owned back then. They got displeased with their own website run by the CAS folks so drifted over here, er there.

Some of them became regular posts not just to the CAS forum but to others as well. I guess all have drifted away. I suspect it might be just a shadow of what it used to be nation wide.

Used to be a place about 45 minutes south
that had a club and a western "town " built
in a big draw/gulley for CAS,  and a place
right at an hour away to the E/NE that had
a large property with CAS, and something
happened that the CAS got the boot

Just about the same scarcity with silhouette
and paintball and IPSC

All those used to be very popular and
had large followings

Forgot to mention those airsoft things
that they have.
I only know of one place they had airsoft
"wars" or "wargames " and never personally
knew anybody that participated in it, but
knew a man that made some dollars
repairing and refurbishing the airsoft
guns and sold the little plastic "BB's" that
they used for projectiles.
He made good money diddling with all
that some time back. Don't know if it's
still a "thing " or exactly what. Lost track
of him
