Discontinued Barrels in 2014
« on: February 03, 2014, 11:15:55 AM »
As of today, 03 FEB, H&R disclosed five barrels that will be discontinued in 2014 - none were rimfires.

The five are: the screw-in choke, ribbed, 12ga; the screw-in choke 20ga; the 10ga cylinder choke; the 204 Ruger bull and 243 Win. (bull?).  There may be others later.

Concerning the above, Ilion said today that their intent is NOT to make any public announcement of specific discontinuances.  The designated barrels will just cease to be as the current stock runs out.  Obviously these were chamberings that they weren't making money on or were holding up the manufacturing line.  I guess I was lucky to get what I got.

Nothing new there, discontinued offerings just aren't in the new catalog.  :-\ The 2013 catalog has disappeared from the website, so maybe the 2014 will be available soon, used to be available in November of the preceding year, not any more. :(

The H&R online 2913 "eCatalog" is still on the H&R1871 website. Unfortunately, I was just recently blindsided by an inclusion in it's content that turned out to be not available - "accessories" are not available directly from H&R. Beyond that, the whole website needs some authoritative editing in a number of places.

The eCatalog is still there, it will be until they have the 2014 catalog available, but the "order a catalog" link is gone, it was there a week ago, so maybe they're making some updates, hopefully it will be available soon. As for relying on what CS says, I would take just about anything they tell us with a grain of salt, they've spread so much misinfo in the last 5yrs since Madison took over it's a joke.

I agree 100% Tim. fortunately for us here we know all about their ineptness unfortunately for the masses it just causes confusion and I am sure lost sales. Kurt
