BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WHAS11) – Newly released photos from the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green are giving the public a closer look at the 8 irreplaceable Corvettes trapped in a massive sinkhole.
The photo released Saturday shows 6 of the 8 Corvettes that fell some 30 feet below ground Wednesday morning inside the Skydome.
The museum says a Mallett Hammer Z06 Corvette and the 1.5 millionth white Corvette are buried somewhere even deeper.
The staff plans to extract the Corvettes from the sinkhole this week.
General Motors has announced it will oversee the restoration of all cars recovered from the sinkhole.
Its plant manager also pledges his support with a personal monetary donation.
The museum remains open to visitors with the exception of the skydome.
