A good time in the Texas hill country
« on: April 07, 2004, 05:51:16 AM »
Last weekend's annual pig hunt in the "wilds" of the Texas hill country was fairly successful.  My brother was the lucky one this year, taking two nice boars.  He was quite happy with his hogs!

I didn't see any big 'uns, but I did manage to take a smaller boar and a fat axis doe, both with my Encore 209X50 shooting 260 grain Dead Centers (see report above).

Our other hunting buddy took a nice fat eating sized sow, but I wasn't as quick with the camera, so no picture.

Despite the rain, some meat was collected and much fun was had by all.  I'm already looking forward to next spring.

Very nice.  I always appreciate pics to go with telling about the event.  Congrats.

Were you around Kerrville?  That country looks familiar.

You nailed it, we were hunting near Medina for three of the pigs and the axis.  The third pig (mine) was taken on another lease near Leakey.  Sure was green down there this year - it almost hurt my eyes!  I'm so used to brown that it was a very pleasant change for a few days.

I hunt in Uvalde and it is the wettest spring I can remember.  EVERYTHING is green!  Don't worry - it won't last past July.  Glad you had good luck...
