Brass Stash
« on: February 20, 2014, 09:36:36 PM »
Well sometimes making a wrong turn just works out.
I was out of town yesterday and was in heavy traffic.

I missed a turn so I starting turning around in a strip
mall type parking lot and low and behold. In the back
corner was a shop that said guns/gunsmithing. Seeing
the sign was like a star trek tractor beam. Parked and
walking in less than a minute. Walked in and made an
assessment. Dang no used guns mostly new pistols and
tactical stuff. But wait looking at shelves behind the counter
were boxes of ammo on the right, and  ;D ;D ;D  Brass ;D ;D ;D
on the left. He had purchased the contents of a gun shop
when it closed and had brass (old stock but new) of lots of
calibers. The kind of old stock that was a box of Winchster
Western unprimed brass box of 20. Some bulk also in small
ziplock bags in 100 count. The way he priced the stuff was
look at brownells or midway for a price, added (+or -) $10-$15
and sales tax. He wouldn't budge on the price. An example is for
357 max brass, Rem, New, 100 to bag, $55.00. I know it was a
little high but he did have it and other calibers. Here is a list of
what he had.
270 Win
Marlin 444 once fired
357 Max
7.5x55 Norma
45-70 WW
9.3-74r Norma
243 Nickle ?
22 Hornet WW
220 WW
32 H&R Federal
30-30 WW
7.62 Russian
300 WW Mag
7mm Mag
38-55
300 H&H mag
225 WW
264 WW
38 Spec
30 Lug
45 Acp
257
9mm
41 Rem Mag
7.62-25 Ziplock Bag
25-20 Rem
358 Norma mag
7mm Mauser WW
38-40 ?
338 WW
348WW
559 (never heard of but was marked this on a box of bulk
He was busy so the sizes I wrote down could be off were
what I could see looking over the counter. If theres a caliber
that you can't get and he has let me know and i'll see what
I can do the next time i'm in the area

I might be interested in the .45-70 Winchester if he's not too exorbitant in price.  8)

Thanks for sharing. I'm always on the lookout for 444 Marlin brass. Do you have a phone number for chap?
