Is any out there shooting a 17 rem in the Contender?
Reason for asking I have a Contender with a 22" bull VVCG barrel and an trying to work ups some loads for it. I thought someone may like to share some ifno with me as to the loads they use.
My results/attemts so far are: (useing the corny)
*Using Remington 25 gr hp factory ammo:
10 shot average 3798 fps at 10 ft from muzzle and good groups @ 25 yds.
* Using my reloads. (use it at your own risk)
Bullet: 20 gr v-max
Primmer: rem 7 1/2 primmers
Powder: 24 gr Varget
COL: 2.195 in
Avg fps: 3781 Hi 3820 Low 3734
Again seen to be good grouping 25 yds.
These are going to be P-dog Loads, but I would like to get up to at least 4000 fps.
Thinking of going to 24.3 gr Varget next and see what I get.
