Pesky Beavers!

My hunting partner whose wife owns the farm we hunt just called... Remember those 2 beaver I saw behind my deer stand last season as they were meandering downstream?  Well, apparently they have settled in!
 
My friend got a call from the Dept. of Transportation saying water was backing up, getting close to flooding the road, and my friend would have to locate and tear down the dam.   :-\  Which means of course that he will have to kill the beavers or they will just build it back again!   ::)
 
Darn shame I can't get down there and trap or shoot them myself so I can save the fur...   :(  But Kathie and I have bought another house and I have no time on the weekends and won't for a while!  Which is why I put off trapping this year, hoping I'll be retired by next season.
 
Not that there is a season for taking beaver in Jawja!  They's vermits 'round here and you can get 'em anytime (24/7/365) anyway (trap, gun, air strike) you want!
 
Just seems like a shame to me...  :-\   I got such a kick outa seeing them.

I had beaver problems down in my woods..they were devastating things.  I got a permit to shoot them and waited for them to come out and climb up on the dam or dry land..  No such luck...I later learned I should have shot them while they were swimming, by leading the wake off their snouts.
  Don't know about there, but here we are supposed to bury the whole beaver.

No such rule here.  Matter of fact, there's no rules at all when it comes to beavers!  Kinda like coyotes.  ;)

Bvr arent bringing much on the fur market with all the work involved with trapping , skinning and fleshing and putting on board.  Castor  taken and carcass left for yotes would be about it unless you have time to put up bvr and sell it for whatever you can.... Or you can tan it and keep or sell hide to tourist or someone that wants it for cabin hanging... You hoop it and make more bucks that way than fur.     WHatever, good luck.

 Shooting beaver is not the best way to ebd the problem.Especially when trying to totally remove them. Once the shooting starts,they can become as wary as the oldest,smartest buck.
 The largest portion of a beavers body ,is under water when they swim.Making a sure head shot the best way of elimination.
 I have had dozens of resort owners and land owners tell me how many beaver they had shot and killed before I came to trap them.You wouldn't believe the number of beaver I got,that had lead in them.
 A beaver is a tough animal,and trapping them is the beat way to take care of the problem.

I have a trapper working the stream & dam now..  Good luck with your hunting..hope you do up some pretty hoops!
