If you guys were Canadian you could get one from Lever Arms in Vancouver, but Norinco stuff is apparently banned in your country.  The web site is:  www.leverarms.com

Ruger is making a 7.62x39 bolt gun now.  Check out the Ruger site or Davidsons.

I had this option when i was rebarreling my k98 but the barrel was $98 for the 7.62x39 and $37 for a excellent used 8mm so me being frugal you know which one I picked.  I figured I would leave the 7.62x39 to the sks's and go with the larger 8mm for serious big game hunting.  But the cheap 7.62x39 ammo still has me thinking too.  With the cost of other similair american made calibers/ammo its just too expensive and ain't fun when it costs too much.                                                       BigBill

You could go with a small ring M1895 barreled action from Samco for $89 and rebarrel it for $100 + labor and use a modern replacement stock or a swede M96 stock w/hardware for $52? not bad prices? Sure beats new rifle costs?? Plus we have that old wood military look and she'll hit the ten ring just like that modern expensive gun can??

A bolt 7.62..with a 7.62 barrel...not .308....

That's what I would like.  Or a .312 Whisper with heavey .308 bullets...a popcorn fart so to speak.  But with case capacity to also handle hot loads with lighter bullets.  The 7.62 is the perfect case for this.

Do you know if it is new manufacture, or mil surp?  I would just love to have one that matched my CZ-24.

I saw the 7.62x39 CZ bolt action of which you speak at a favorite gun shop in Houston Tx (Collectors). It is indeed a fine piece of workmanship, but... at $485+    I could buy 2 maybe 3 SKSs. No joy here   .

I came across this article about a mauser fitted with an sks barrel?? BigBill

http://www.angelfire.com/realm/cruffler/Sino%20Mystery%20Rifle.htm

I'm not sure how it is made but numrich has cheap sks barrels and SOG has cheap  Czech BRNO M1922 mausers for $59.95??  Thats all the pieces for under $100 plus some elbow grease but I'm not sure what machining is envolved.  If you really want a bolt action 7.62x39.

I've seen one and got to shoot it.
It was pretty little 18.5" carbine - Great shooter.
Even had a set trigger option - Go figure?
