209x50 primers
« on: February 27, 2004, 05:01:17 AM »
Is any one using the 209-4 Remington primers (mild 410 shotshell primers).  I was thinking about going to a more mild and hopfully cleaner primer.
Is it worth going that direction?  Are they cleaner?  Do they give positive ignition?
Currently I'm using Winchester primers, they seem to leave the entire action dirty from the excess gas that can not be forceed through the breech plug at the time of ignition.
I was considering the 22 hornet conversion but that seems a little more involved than necessary.  I would like to keep things as simple as possible.  The Encore system is very good and if T/C though a different primer system should be used they would have made the change themselves.  Thanks  DJay
