2nd Time Out with PRS bullet

HI,
Went out to the range today and shot 140 rds. through the PUMA. 70 were loaded with 2.2cc of 2f Goex and 70 were loaded with 2.5cc of 2f goex. Before I get to the part about how they shot, I must tell you I broke one of the cardinal rules about working up a load. I put a new rear sight on my rifle,a marbles tang. After a few rounds to get the sight reasonably centered. I shot 2- 20 round groups with each load at 50 yds.The 2.2 cc went about 4" with all shots touching with the exception of 3 flyers that opened it up to 5". I was quite pleased with this as I was shooting fast and when the 40 rounds were fired I could not hold onto the barrel. The groups with 2.5 cc of powder were noticably larger. the majority in the center at about 5" with several (4 or 5) flyers that opened it up to 8 1/2". I will have to try my "gamer loads" again withe the new sight, but I think I will be shooting the full power 2.2cc loads from now on. I did not bring my pistols so I don't know how much those will kick. But I will try next time. For those of you wondering. The snow in front of where I was shooting was speckled with lube! so I know it is making it to the end of the barrel. Fouling was not an issue and the gun functioned flawlessly. Thanks Again to Pigeon Roost Slim for his excellent bullet design!

4"?!  That's much better than when I first saw you shoot.  Not bad.

Just curious, you probably didn't check, but was the muzzle developing that little lube/fouling ring as before?

Did you use filler in the 2.2 cc load?

I'm thinking maybe that lube and filler mixed to make a paste.

No filler was used in either of those loads. The 2.2cc was compressed and the 2.5cc was REALLY compressed.

Sounds like progress.  I find that 2.5cc is crowding things a bit too in Starline brass.  CCI-300 primers may tighten yer pattern some and CCI-350 may be even better by a small tad.
