College football
« on: November 11, 2019, 12:24:42 PM »
I pay little attention to it, usually to see if some small school kick the buttocks of a big name school.
Well the U. of Minn. has not had a top level team since 1962 but this past weekend for the first time in 20 years they beat a team ranked in the top 5.Good for them.
They have a hard, hard, hard, hard time beating Ohio State or Michigan; if they beat Ohio State , when ever they play them again, then they have actually earned my respect.Last time I watched any Gopher football, they were ahead of Michigan 28-0 and still lost ten or so years ago, which is the main reason I quit paying more than read scores how bad they lost attention to them.

They have a great coach and great program, they will continue to prosper, too bad they ran into the hornets nest at Iowa.  Might be a great time to get back on board, I remember that game with Michigan, it was a heart breaker.
best wishes

Well the Gophers actually won a Bowl Game that was not also ran category, though some of the Bowls that have been around for a long, long time are not what they used to be.At that once again the Big Ten lost in the Rose Bowl.I knew it had not been since 1962 that Minnesota had been to the Rose Bowl but this was almost a good being a New Year Day bowl game. 8)

Well the mighty Minnesota Gophers, even though the critter they are named after is 13 Stipe Ground Wquirrel, ended up ranked 10th.Not bad as it is the first time they have been in the top ten since 1962.
I actually took the time to look at their seasons back to 1960, and the one team, actually two if you include North Dakota State, they really have problems with is Ohio State. They have not beaten them in the 21 st. Century, and only twice that I saw back to 1960.Now they lose to Michigan a lot also but it seems that some of the worst Minnesota teams beat Michigan while some that should have did not.Only Iowa, for some odd reason, seems to have trouble with Minn. even when Minn. had a lousy team.
I may actually watch a Gopher game next year, as the ViQueenies as long as they have Cousin tain't worth the time.
