if i remember right, it had to do with empty rifle shells set on a log.  he was using high end spring piston rifles w/scope. and distances were  extreme for a pellet rifle.  he likened to, a sniper popping off enemy soldiers. cant remeber much else, but i think they fired at 5 (soldiers) at a time.
one shot..........one kill

This rings a bell!

I think for targets he used 9mm brass held by a spot of clay.
His rifle model was running boar, do not remember make.
I think he used a ten power scope at 30 yards.

Thanks for the response!

when he lived on FLordia he had a Larc international full auto BB gun. He got tired of running out of gas and hooked it up with a hose to a craftsmen aircompresser He used it to shoot down dragon flys on the lake he lived on said id was like shooting down enemy aircraft with a browning 50. He was a great man who loved life and he dies to soon.

Capstick's Minisniping article

Kentone,

Are you referring to his Minisniping article in the Oct 84 Guns & Ammo? Both that story and Backyard Safari can be found online, and in one of his books, which had a collection of his articles for Peterson Publishing, though I can't recall the book. Found it at the library.
