EBAY
« on: July 16, 2020, 03:10:27 PM »
I was under the impression that used items could not be taxed if resold ,  thus the term double taxation .  Maybe   that has changed  for buying on ebay  and I just havent got the message yet .

I think PayPal does the same.  I don't collect sales tax on my website since there isn't one in Oregon.

They passed a law several years ago to collect sales tax on all the internet sights as the states were loosing millions in taxes from internet sales. If you remember the post office tried to get a law passed to charge 5 cents on every email sent as they were and still are loosing millions of dollars as lots of people have gone to email instead of sitting down and writing someone a letter. The PO raises rates the service is very poor, I mailed a letter to a friend in calif and it took 14 days to get there, same thing to a friend in Kansas. Here in Oklahoma where I live the tax rate is just a little over 10 percent and that is on everything including food.
