  I was sent a notice that the recent closings and impending closings of some of the great gun companies, was due to a financial firm called Freedom Group, which was part of Cerebus  holdings..owned by George Soros.
  Certainly, some great guns (e.g. H&R), have been shut down, so I checked further and this is what I found;

  Still I wonder, why for instance, was H&R just shut down, and not sold to another firm.
  Now there is talk of selling Remington (including Marlin) to a Native American tribal group.


  That would be far preferable to closing the doors.

Soros isn't involved with the Freedom Group. They do own several gun companies and I guess have bled them dry so time to sell them off if they can. Remington filed for bankruptcy a year or two ago and are doing so yet again.

Don't think the Indians want to buy it so that isn't a current option.

H&R Tooling was worn out. They had to decide to retool and continue making them or stop making them. They chose to stop. They weren't selling enough to make a profit on retooling. I'm guessing no one wanted to buy just the name which is really all they had at that point.

The employees didn't move with H&R when Remington bought and closed the plant making them. Marlin employees didn't either I don't think. They retooled and hired new folks to make Marlin rifles and took awhile getting it right.

That huge lawsuit hanging over their heads is really the single biggest problem they have at this time I think. Laws are on the books saying it can't go forward yet the courts are allowing it anyway.

I don't know if it is possible, but I wonder if some group could buy marlin or Remington, and not incur their debts?
  All is not lost, since new, quality companies are coming onto the scene.  Henry is a relatively new manufacturer.
   H&R is out, and it seems Rossi have abandoned their single shot rifles..but CVA and traditions have taken up the banner, along with Henry.
  In single shots, Thompson Center is still there...plus they are finding new interest in bolt guns..and their little .22, based on the 10/22 action, i have found to be a beauty !


  No reason yet to be disappointed, unless the commies take over in November.

  Why would you use some far left service such a Microsoft? ..Or buy a vehicle, eat a meal, or ride on a plane that is produced by a corporation that contributes to BLM?

  This is a complex world we live in, and if you can keep them all sorted out, while boycotting the ones which offend, you're doing better than most of us.

  Personally, I am not in love with 'big pharma"..but still, I use some prescriptions, and I am not in favor with my state governor or government, but I still register my Jeep and my scooter.

  Sometimes we just have to "grin & bear".

sure you cant get rid of all of them. You have to eat get your meds drive a car, obey the law but FACEBOOK??? Come on! Why would you need to use that pos liberal service. You cant text your family or God forbid call them on the phone to see what they been up to. Kind of like saying you need to watch nbc to get the news when theres a fox channel that just takes a click of the remote. want to socialize?? Theres many good forums just like this one to do that on. I sure dont need to know that marys sisters mother baked a cake today or other completely useless bs thats constantly posted on the site.   Nor do I care about who baked a cake or bought a new dress, but there are other things I may be interested in.  Things like how a friend fixed his rifle, perhaps I would like to see a new cabin, just bought by a friend who lives 5 states away..
   Or perhaps, how a friend smokes venison..all complete with photos.  ..And not all my friends are on GBO!
...But if you don't like FB, that's OK, nobody will fault you for that.

i dont have one of those fancy phones but i bet you have one that someone can text you and send you pictures of his cabin or smoked meat. I doubt many here anyway will fault me for not liking face book. Its one less extreme far left organization that makes money off of the people on it that i dont have to support. That even sensors the conservatives on it. If anything even more extreme left then NBC news or CNN. But its a free world and your free to support the enemy if you want. Just remember its one more cog in the wheel of the steam roller coming for our guns and turning this country into a socialist state. To me its whats wrong with this world. People no longer talk to each other. Even phone calls are about antiquated. The whole world stares at and taps on phones and i pads. They get indoctrinated by the far left that for the most part controls the internet. I spend a half hour a day checking these forums and maybe to order something i cant find localy. Thats it. Want to talk to me? Call me on my land line. If i dont answer and its really important you will call back. If i want to see your smoked meat ill call you or try another novel approach. Hop in my truck and drive over and actually talk to you and even help. I dont have to make mark zuckerberg a billionaire doing it and helping him support my enemys.
