BY ASHLEY BUNCH  SEPTEMBER 29, 2020

Was there ever a day you thought you’d see a sub-compact pistol with optics on it? Well, if not, that day is here. Often, people purchase sub-compact because they’re light and easy to conceal. They’re also more comfortable than lugging around a full-size 1911. Unfortunately, you rarely see a compact red dot sight for a sub-compact pistol like you would with that full-size pistol.

Simply put, there’s just not enough room to add accessories — Which might be why, until now, there’s been a lack of electronic/red dot sights available for these smaller guns.

Holosun Red Dot Sights | HS40K7, HS507K X2

Holosun Technologies claims they’ve fixed that problem, offering two electronic sights—the HS407K and HS507K X2—that are small, rugged, reliable, and reasonably priced (according to them).

We’re also told, while these guys are small, the HS407K and HS507K X2 rival any full-sized sight on the market—yes, they used the word ANY.

50,000 hours of battery life—a capability found on larger Holosun sights
Shake Awake™ technology—auto on/auto-remains ready when you need it, conserve battery life when you don’t

HS407K—6 MOA dot reticle

HS507K X2— Multi-Reticle System (M.R.S.™)—choose between a 2 MOA dot only, a 32 MOA ring only, or the combination of both

No re-zeroing is needed when cycling between choices since all 3 reticle options are projected from the same LED

Multi-layered reflective glass on both systems

It looks like it would snag when drawing.  It's probably good for shooting but not for carrying.

im one that allways fights new, but the buddy has a hellcat with a dot like that on it and it draws out of the holser (made for it with an optic) Just fine. It takes some practice though if your a point and shoot type of a guy. Youll find yourself wiggling (for lack of better words) the gun around till you find the dot. But practice would cure that. Even when i switch to a new gun i have to put lots of range time in to get used to drawing with the proper hold to have the open sights line up. i wonder how that shake awake works on a carry gun. My sigs with that feature come on with just  touch of the finger and i would think in a carry gun that would make it on all the time and battery life would then be a consern. My other shake awake is a utg (dont laugh its actually a good rugged dot) and that one on an ar15 makes you actually have to shake the gun pretty good to have it come on and you dont want to draw and have to shake your gun. theres one model and i dont know which it is that comes on imediately by a sensor in your holster and it goes back out when you reholster. Now that idea i like

I guess that type of site has a purpose, but I don't need one. I've seen reports where civilians, and police officers emptied their pistols (sometimes more than once) and not hit anything.
I don't think that site would help those types of folks. Many don't practice and train enough, but I think many folks panic when an actual fight starts.

I was privileged as an instructor to have viewed many actual fights caught on video. Panic, not sites, was the culprit on most misses.

I've personally seen police officers that on the range were  good shots, but panicked in a real fight and didn't hit anything.

One officer I trained was always deliberate in my classes in doing everything the way I instructed, to the point other officers teased him for not moving fast enough.

Years later he called me after a Grand Jury cleared him in a living room gunfight where the perp already had his gun out.
He was pleased that everything he had been taught, worked.

His Glock 23 was bone stock.

I like my Lasermax on my TCR (similar to photo).  It also leaves the regular sights open, as an option.

ya even if you look at the rounds expended vs kills in war zones its about unbelievable. Heck some cant even hit a deer because they get buck fever. It sure wont replace training and practice. Matter of fact adds to the need for even more training and practice. But even that doesnt change the fact that you dont have a clue as to how you will react until youve actually had bullets flying at you. You cant buy that at a gun store. You dont learn that in boot camp or the police academy.

I've learned to just follow the front sight and ignore the rear sight and I keep'em all in the chest area of the man targets I use.
If Nancy don't get in a big rush, she can keep'em in the head area.
