Will an air gun damage it? Air guns have a different recoil them firearms and some optics won't hold up.

Yes; springer air guns can damage even the better rifle scopes, because of their "slam bang" operation.
With a regular rifle the slam is in one direction only..while the springer air rifle has recoil, plus a forward slam.  While both the recoil is lighter than most any rifle, it is the sudden change in the other direction it is not ready for.
This seems to be true only with the springer rifles..not so much with CO2 or the ones filled by compressor.  If you pull the barrel down to cock it..you have a springer..

...Best check with the guys over in the Air rifles forum..

yup ive got 3 of them. There good redots. That said i prefer the sig with the auto on feature. If i was going to get another vortex it would be the newer one that has a much better battery life. Probably a non issue for many because they dont have a problem with turning them on and off but i want my ars to be ready to light up the night without fumbling with switches. Its why i like aimpoints for so long. They could be left on for years on a battery. The sparc doesnt even alow you to do that if your willing to replace batterys often. It has an timed auto shut off. I always wondered why they went that way. It could cause trouble if it happened to decide to shut down in the middle of a firefight. But again not many of us will ever be in that situation. But to me the sig romeo is about the same price. Comes on with just a light touch or by picking up the gun and shuts off if its inactive for a couple minutes. Ive found them just as reliable as the vortex units and although i do like aimpoints i just cant see spending 600 dollars when the sig does the same thing for a 150 bucks.

yup air guns can tear up cheap scopes but its not going to hurt one of these. I saw a video on the internet where they pulled one off an ar and two guys stood about 25 yards apart and bounced it off the pavement back and forth to each other 3 times.  then threw it up in the air as high as they could twice and let it hit the pavement. Picked it up and put it back on the gun and not only did it still work but it was still zeroed. They did it because that was the advertising video for aimpoints and they wanted to prove there just as tough.

That's about as fine as they get, isn't it ?  May be a good option for calling coyotes, at least in eastern, hilly woodlands..

thing is with a 2moa is there just as fast as a 4moa and if you crank up the illumination they stand out as well as a 4moa. Id rather a 2moa any day over a bigger dot. You can crank them down and still do precision work out to a 100 yards. 4moa are a bit big for that.
