Goin to shoot in my first match today.  Been up half the night tellin myself that old Bill Jordan mantra, "speed is fine, but accuracy is final."  It'll be interstin to see if I can 'member that whilst on the firin line.

Fresh built cart, two new lever rifles and a SXS, none of which has been fired yet, so I don't even know if they go BANG.  Least I know my rugers shoot.  Does anyone else out there hate bein new at somethin?  I'm sure the posse I'm shootin with'll learn me right.

Add me to the "hate to be the new guy" at something.  But, you will love it.  
Let us know your overall impressions.  I was 38th and 31 out of about 45 shooters my first full match and really don't care!  I just love all of it.  Can't wait till the end of this month to do the Jan shoot.

Well, its over.  The Burro Canyon Gunslingers really do put on a good time.  Plus the range site is only about 15 minutes from my house.  I was nervous, but there were three or four other new shooters there.  True to my observations at Gunfight Behind the Jersey Lilly, everyone was happy, smilin and willin to offer a new guy advice.  I do have a complaint though....it was over way to soon!!!! :(  :(

Don't know how I did, cuz the scores won't be posted till tomorrow.  I guess I am only interested in the scores as a starting point.  Prior to today I had only fired a lever action rifle once, six rounds in fact.  We also had a stage where we had to shoot 5 shotgun rounds, and I shoot a SXS.  Had to ask which trigger fired which barrel.  Felt pretty dumb about that one.     :?  :? (The shotgun is new and was unfired till today.)

I also learned that the dang white diamond on the rear sight of the Marlin Cowboy Limited I bought is not legal.  I hated the thing anyway.  With my eye sight it is to blurry to be of use.  Guess I can use a dab of black paint, or a magic marker?? (the marlin was also new and not fired until today.)

All in all a very positive experience.

Just black it out for now. If you can, replace it soon. I doubt ig they give you a hard time. I've seen guys shoot with ejectors for a couple of matches before thye got a proper SXS. Nobody said much, just ducked.
