I respect that millions of people respect that museum and it's contents..some beautiful art work there.
However, such is not representative of Jesus and the apostles.. Gold, jewels and fineries were of no import to them"the son of man hath no place to lay his head"
So far as Peter, I and many others have doubt whether Peter spent much time in Rome, but that is for another discussion.
Perhaps it should not, but it bothers me to see scenes where some event in jesus' life is supposed to have occurred, and see it all overlaid with gold, jewels and other precious stones.. ..Often so much so, that it must be difficult to actually see the natural place we are supposed to be seeing.
Perhaps it is just a quirk of mine, but I would prefer seeing such supposed sites left as natural as possible, for example..the garden tomb, which seems to be very little tampered with.
I enjoy history and historical places. Last year, I visited the original site of Boone's fort in Kentucky. I enjoyed seeing that brushy place by the river, which must be close to how D Boone first saw it so many years ago.
However, had somebody placed a golden fence around it, with a huge Ruby inlaid at the spot where Boone stood when he first viewed the place, I would not be impressed nor amused.
