Went to Texas yesterday

It's a totally different situation than in NM. I passed by our super wally-world in Hobbs early yesterday morning. It was a nasty, windy, raw day and people were standing in line from one side of the store to the other out front waiting to be allowed into the store per little Hitler's latest orders. As large as that place is only 75 people can be inside.

It's a totally different situation in Texas. The parking lots were mostly full at stores and people were coming and going as they wished. Schools were doing business as usual where we are restricted to on-line only Cafe's were open and no one was eating outside and I didn't see any facilities for doing so. I didn't join the crowds as I had a little light duty surgery and stayed in the car after it was done while my wife and our son finished their shopping. Yesterday was my first experience with vallium. It's a pretty good sleep enhancer. I went to sleep in the Dr's office , slept most of the way home which is an over two hour drive, and promptly went back to sleep in my recliner after having a hot bowl of chicken soup. I woke up at twelve AM, went to bed and right back to sleep and didn't wake up until seven o'clock this morning thanks to one little pill.

One little pill that is very addictive, and has ruined many a life when abused.

But! It will effectively get you through your postop recovery.

Today I put my house on the market, and good Lord willing will move to a north west Texas county that is mosty a cattle ranching based economy.

My home town is being invaded by Dallasites and all their city ways, and attitudes.
The county I'm going to move to has barely 20,000 people, in the entire county. However, it has a healthy population of whitetail, AND some monster mule deer, and turkey, along with plenty of antelope.
We're hoping the Lord is onboard with this move, because this area is changing fast, and not for the better.

Your move sounds like a good deal to me. I don't see how people can stand to live all packed together like the Dallas area or any other large town for that matter. Lubbock has 330,000 population and I hate go there. I went to Midland yesterday and it's about half the size of Lubbock which make it have 100,000 more people than I like to endure. I have to go back in three weeks and get the other eye done and then it's back to dinky town, NM for me except for follow up on the surgery in Seminole which is barely a wide spot in the road compared to Lubbock. I don't mind going there. It takes about 90 seconds to get to the doctor's office and the same amount of time to get gone unless I decide to stop at Dairy Queen for a blizzard on the way home.

If I thought I had more more move left in me, I'd resettle in Idaho, Wyoming or the Dakotas.  All are better places than Oregon has become.

Sadly if the left gets control of all three branches,  no state will be free from tyranny.

I have a nephew who lives near Littlefield, NW of Lubbock..

Now Littlefield is a nice sized town IMO. The population was less then 6,400 people in 2010 and I doubt it has increased much since it's a farm town and farm towns in this region are either stagnant or losing population. My oldest grandson went to a junior college there because the tuition for the classes he was taking was much lower what it was at Texas Tech in Lubbock. The fly in the ointment was that he had to live in Lubbock and drive back and forth because of the lack of housing in Littlefield. Lots of dirt blows around there during winter and spring when there are no crops growing. I attended school in Lamesa, TX, that's pronounced la-mee-sa, not la-may-sa, by the way, which is 65 miles slightly southwest of Lubbock and the population was almost 13,000 then. Today it's dwindled to 9,000.
