Rev Warnock in Georgia senatorial debate
« on: December 06, 2020, 03:46:01 PM »
  Rev Warnock says one cannot serve god and serve in the military.  He seems to be condemning the idea that a Christian should serve in the military.
  Now, he is a Rev, so he should know better..but then, he is an acolyte of Jeremiah Wright, Obama's Rev.

  Did Jesus have trouble with the profession of soldiering?  It sure doesn't look like it!
  In (Matthew eight)  and (Luke 7), we are told of the time when Jesus healed the servant of a Roman Centurion. In (Matt eight) he gives special mention to the centurion, saying of him; "never have I seen such faith, not in all Israel".
  When the Rev tried to shame the military, he was reading from (Matt 6:24), which reads;

     24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

   Perhaps old Jeremiah should have told him...  "mammon" doesn't mean "military", but it does mean "money"..or riches!

  I would hope he doesn't get elected, because he would make a great stablemate for another Georgian.. Hank "Guam will tip over" Johnson !

I suppose the "cause" has everything to do with Christianity and soldiering.

As for Warnock, he is a crap stirring, bigoted charlatan.

Here he is, expounding... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYOfPDYxQNo&t=38s

  He really needs to attend a good Bible school.  Apparently Jeremiah Wright's "church of what's happening now', doesn't instruct very heavily on exegesis !

Warlock bases his argument on Matthew 6:24 which has nothing to do with the military but with accumulating treasures on earth, and Lord knows, our brave young men and women don’t join up to accumulate treasure. ::)

It does show how out of step he is with our nation's history. At Lexington and Concord the militias were rallied by local preachers, and many black robed (clergy) patriots fought for our independence. While it is true that generally fewer and fewer of our military folk are religious of any kind, and that in their ignorance, military and political leaders have more frequently infringed upon the religious liberties of our military, there remains a whole lot of believing folk in uniform, and by nature of their commitment to moral standards, they tend to rise to leadership.

I for one am grateful for Rev Warnock's message, as any one who would view him as their pastor should not enter military service. They would find it a poor fit, and exhaust military leadership in the process.

From TN;

   Not to mention Peter Muhlenberg..

   Guys, we didn't have 24 hour news back in 1776. There were but few newspapers, and not everyone subscribed to them.  Thus, many, especially rural folk, got their news direct from the pulpit!
  I suspect that since the pulpits of America actually fired up the revolution, our founding fathers in the Bill of rights, wanted to maintain the idea that churches would not be interfered with from the government!
   They understood how such freedom in the pulpit, preserved freedom, rather than limited it !

Lyndon Baines Johnson killed politics from the pulpit with the Johnson Amendment giving churches 401C3 status only if they shut up about him and others in Congress.

  I believe the trump admin, derailed the Johnson amendment or at least intended to. In any case, why should we pay any attention to it?
  For sure, the Right Reverend Warnock doesn't, nor does his mentor Jeremiah Wright!  It even looks like J Jackson, Al Sharpton and a few hundred other "reverends" ignore it also.

  Here's one pastor who isn't intimidated...Kudos to him!  Good preacher, a leader for sure!
