Shotshells - How do you clean them?

I'm just starting out and have purchased a Pons Warren 800 Plus.  I also obtained 1500 Rem "blue magic" shells.  How do you clean them?  Most are one shot only, but are dirty......what's the next step?

I wipe mine briefly with a terry cloth rag. It gets the soot and grass off of them. That's good enough.

I use a rag slightly wet with Armorall. I try not to get it inside the hull.

When I clean my shotshells I do the same as the other people do but i also run them through my tumbler to clean the brass if it needs it.

Cleaning shotgun shells

Armor-All is a good product for cleaning plastic shotgun shells, and so are any of the various polymer engine compartment sprays found at the auto parts stores.

Spray on a rag, and wipe on the shells to make them look like new!

You guys clean your hulls????

Why didn't someone tell me this 30+ years ago when I started reloading shotshells?

The wierd thing is that I am scrupulous about cleaning brass but never got interested in doing the same for shotshells.  Could be because I only use O/Us and SxSs and have lots of camming action if I need it.

One thing about the Blue Magic hulls you have to watch for is that they have tendency to separate about half way up the hull after a few cycles of reloading.  This is a bigger danger if you are shooting an auto or pump and don't get to inspect the empties.

On hulls I pick up from the ground, I usually give them a wipe with a damp cloth, just to get any dirt, grass etc. off them. The ones I shoot, go from my hull bag back on to the MEC. A little powder burn is usually all that is wrong with them.

I suppose one should give all hulls a wipe off, just to prevent the dies from getting dirty. It might well keep the reloader running smoother longer!
