Surplus military HumV's coming up for auction.
« on: January 01, 2021, 09:02:52 AM »
In El Paso on the  23rd. I'm going down there and bid on one. It would make one heck of a hunting truck.
This is the one I want, if I can afford it. It's street leagle.  Might get it for under 7k.

They are one heck of an off road vehicle.
99% of all Lawyers give the other 1% a bad name. What I find hilarious about this is they are such an arrogant bunch, that they all think they are in the 1%.

Two things..IMO..
  1. maintenance and spare parts..costly? Parts hard to find?

  2.  When they first came out, I wondered .."How will that monster get through the woods in Europe, the US, the Pacific islands or even the far east?  It was about then that I realized that the Pentagon was already looking at desert warfare in the middle east.
  It may work well in our desert southwest however.  May be fine for your needs.

There is a small locally owned oil company south of here. Mac Chase, the owner has two of them.
And yes parts are very expensive, 4500 for a heater core. He leaves one of them up at his cabin
for when they go hunting. Mac says they sure ain't speed demons on the highway. I checked on it
this morning now the latest bid was up to $15,000.

Billy you were Army how fast will they go?

They should be fast enough for field work, Argent..since they have been used to run down insurgents in civilian cars.

   If I recall correctly, I think my grandson said they are good for about 65.

I read where one tire for those things can cost over one thousand. If you want it to be original.
They have run flat in case a tire is shot out. The bottom one is street legal, the top one isnt and would
have to be modifyed.

That one must be armored. I don't think any of those are for sale. Or I don't see it on their website.
A couple of Duce and a half's. Some nice generator trailers, 60htz. Some heavy construction equipment.
A cement mixer, and a dozer. Front end loader, about the size of a cat 950. Big fork lift, about a 20 ton.
A bunch of miscellaneous stuff, tents , portable air conditioners, heaters that would be great for hunting.
Being in El Paso I wonder if some of this stuff came from Ft. Bliss and Hollowman AFB.

  Then of course, there is Ft Hood, and San Antonio has Ft Sam Houston and 3 Air Force bases..  About 550 miles isn't too far to move them.

I know one time were had one way past the speedometer. I know we were at least doing 90. It seemed like it just slowly sped up more and more.

How did it handle ? This is supposed to be its replacement. Accourding to  military times.

From Argent..
  "That one must be armored. I don't think any of those are for sale. Or I don't see it on their website."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  Yes, my grandson's Humvee was up-armored.  His MEU fleet stopped by Rota, Spain and picked up their Humvees, since they were up armored there.  Fortunate his was armored, because while he was in an ambush one day, they were hit by a RPG.
   Since the armor included thick glass, the RPG stuck in the thick glass, but it did detonate a hot stream and took off the interpreter's arm and splattered it around the cab.
  If it had gone through the window, it would have likely taken the interpreter, the driver and perhaps my grandson'e legs, since he was up top in the .50 cal perch.
Billy, every one is beating out my bids by the thousands. It would be a good bug out vehicle.
