1885 Winchester/Brownings
« on: May 09, 2021, 08:12:41 PM »
It is no secret that I like single shot rifles. I was able to find some 1885 Winchesters and Brownings when I still had funds from selling my house. They are made by Miroku and are well crafted. They are all accurate without any real load development. Even though I like these fine rifles, I am keeping my T/Cs and Ruger #1s.

I had one in .243 and one in .22 Hornet. I can't recommend the Hornet as they used the old specs for it with a .223" barrel. I blew a few primers even on factory ammo before calling them to ask. Very tight barrel means you must use rare .223" bullets not .224" or risk blowing out primers.

The .243 was super accurate. It was rare a group with any load went over an inch at 100 yards with it. I shot many groups under a half inch with it. Most of the time groups ran from 0.4" to 0.8" using a variety of loads.

I also had 3 different HW in .45-70. One was the BPCR.
