I want to say :toast: to everyone being my first post. I'm looking for a scope but cannot figure out what would be the correct mounts to use. Should I get the 1-piece 5032 or a 2-piece? Also what would you recommend in a variable power sub-$200 range. I was looking at the RWS model 450 but I am open for suggestions.

Man I LOVE my HW-35! You have one of the GREAT air rifles. IMO, nothing beats it.

Mounts.. I use 5030Ms on mine. Certainly no need for a heavier, more costly one-piece mount on this air rifle.

Scopes.. The RWS 450 should be avoided. I'm sending my replacement back to be replaced, AGAIN. Current ones are CERTAINLY pitiful examples.

I have a Swift/Haako 2-7X32AO(no longer being made) on mine. EXCELLENT scope. For less than $200.00, the Bushnell Trophy 4-12X40AO, Bushnell Banner 4-12X40AO, and Swift Premier 4-12X40 would be the better examples in your price range...

I'm curious as to what pellets yours likes as to make one ragged hole. I'm going to give a few of Beemans pellets a try and see what works best. I have had mine for 20 years and never put a scope on it :cry: But I have looked at the trophy's and that's probably what I'll end up with. I just had Beeman do a super-tune on it and I cant wait to put a scope on it.

Mine shoots Croman Premier 7.9gr best. I'd include Beeman FTS, RWS Superdome, and JSB Exacts on the "pellets to try" list.

Do you suggest going through Beeman for the mounts (are they Beeman exclusive) or elsewhere?

If it were me I'd order both the 5030M mounts AND the Crosman Premier 7.9 gr pellets thru dnrsports.com.

Well I ended up with the 4-12x40 trophy, very nice scope. I had the mainspring replaced in my supertune and am I safe to assume that the spring needs plenty of rounds fired to stabilize in tension? My groups at 10 meters were about an inch then after 50 or so rounds began to tighten up dramatically to about 1/4 to 3/8 inch. Is this normal and if so how many shots should I expect to have the spring settle. I will post target pics when I can. Thanks Big 6 for all your suggestions.

It's more of a stabilization of the LUBES in the compression chamber. The velocity will vary as much as 100fps during the first 100 pellets or so. It shouldn't. After a couple of hundred pellets the HW-35 will just get smoother and smoother. ALSO a good idea to run a couple of patches down the bore after a new lube job OR a tune. The HW-35 is as good as spring-guns get.

Hey big6X6 - would you recommend these same rings for the Beeman R7 as well? Some of you suggestions and comments were helpful when I choose to buy the R7 a few weeks back. I can say that I definitely made the right choice!
